An array of performance-based tax and financial incentives are available to eligible businesses. Waukee Economic Development Corporation works with local, county and state officials to identify and package incentives and assistance programs to best meet the growth needs of the business expanding or locating in Waukee.
Tax Credit Incentives
Research and Development Tax Credit
A refundable tax credit for increasing research activities is up to 6.5% of the company's allotted share of qualifying research expenditures in Iowa. A company must meet the qualifications of the federal research activities credit in order to be eligible for the credit on the Iowa return. Companies approved for benefits under the High Quality Job Program may be eligible for the amount of the tax credit to be doubled for qualifying research and development activities.
New Jobs Tax Credit
The Iowa New Jobs Tax Credit is an Iowa corporate income tax credit and is available to a company that has entered into a New Jobs Training Agreement (260E) and expands their Iowa employment base by 10% or more.
High Quality Job Program (HQJ)
The HQJ Program is designed to promote the creation or retention of quality jobs by assisting businesses locating, expanding or modernizing their facilities in Iowa. The program offers a package of tax credits, exemptions and/or refunds to approved businesses. The level of assistance is based on the amount of qualifying investment and the number of new or retained jobs that meet wage targets.

Brownfield/Grayfield Tax Credit Program
The Brownfield/Grayfield Tax Credit Program provides tax credits of 24% of qualifying costs of a Brownfield project and 30% if the project meets green building requirements. Grayfield projects can get tax credits of 12% of qualifying costs and 15% if the project meets green building requirements.

The GIVFA Program is the state's premier economic development program designed to create and/or retain high quality jobs by assisting Iowa company expansions and new company locations in the state. A variety of business development assistance programs are available through the GIVFA Program.

MidAmerican Energy Incentives
Incentives programs are designed to encourage the use of high-e
fficiency space and water heating equipment, central air conditioning, lighting and other measures in commercial and industrial buildings. Incentives are available to Iowa customers who install qualifying equipment and purchase the energy for which the incentive is paid from MidAmerican.
