Waukee Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO) was founded in 2008 as a result of the city’s focus on economic development and business growth.  City business leaders felt the issue of development required a renewed and focused effort in order to move the city forward in these efforts.  The Corporation is a nonprofit, public-private partnership funded by its member investors, including the City of Waukee, MidAmerican Energy, area businesses, developers and individuals.  

Investors in WEDCO fully support its mission to generate and support growth opportunities through collaboration with existing businesses, new businesses and commercial developers.

WEDCO’s strategic program of work is focused on:

• Positioning and marketing Waukee as a preferred business location. 
• Encouraging and facilitating the retention and expansion of existing businesses.
• Attracting and developing new businesses.
• Supporting workforce development to meet the growth needs of Waukee area employers.
• Strengthening the competitiveness of the Waukee business location product.

Waukee is in an enviable position due to its geographic location and developable land, among many other competitive business location factors. The extension of Alice's Road/105th Street Corridor and construction of the Interstate 80 Overpass opens up new opportunities for industrial, commercial, office and retail development.  Waukee is perfectly positioned and business ready.
